A long-term investigation into how cities reshape atmosphere, perception, and the human experience of place.

The Explosion Series is an ongoing body of work that explores how cities transform the atmosphere, memory, and lived experience of place.

Through travel and direct observation, I became fascinated by the way geography, climate, architecture, infrastructure, and population density shape our perception of the environments we inhabit. Over time, I began to see cities as living systems—constantly expanding, compressing, and reorganizing themselves through human activity.

Rather than creating literal depictions of place, these paintings seek to capture the energy and accumulated history of a city. Each work begins with an abstract underpainting that serves as a foundation of color, movement, and atmosphere. Layers of imagery are then built over time, allowing visible and hidden elements to interact and create unexpected relationships.

A photograph records a single moment from a fixed vantage point. Painting offers the freedom to compress time, shift perspective, emphasize certain experiences, and reveal aspects of a place that are felt rather than simply seen. Through layering, color, and mark-making, the Explosion Series becomes a visual map of urban experience—an exploration of how humanity continually reshapes the world and, in turn, how those environments shape us.
